该项目是对一个广场的改造，项目场地位于麦迪逊广场花园的对面，之前这里的风景十分单调。在该项目中，设计团队将这里改造成了一个现代化的社交场所，开放式的设计和各部分景观的条理布局受到了人们的欢迎，而且场地中央有一个喷雾喷泉，同时也是纽约市第一个拥有喷雾喷泉的广场。广场周边是各个种类的餐馆以及室外咖啡店，它们分布在中央花园两侧，与喷泉形成一条轴线，同时也整个广场的重头景观。 场地上的东西两侧分别设有座位区，座位区与东西两侧的人行小路联系在一起，而这两条小路又与对面的麦迪逊广场花园相互连接，使得这片区域的公共景观融为一个整体。与周边大楼的现代化特征相比较，该广场还融入了更多的自然元素，比如将赤沙岩作为主要的石景，它不仅仅是周边城市景观的补充，更是为整个广场增添了某种张力，在自然景观与人造景观之间获取了平衡。 译者：蝈蝈 What was once a wind swept barren public plaza directly across the street from Madison Square Garden has been dramatically transformed into a sparkling social gathering place with New York’sfirst fog fountain as its central sculptural focus. Restaurantswith outdoor cafes flank the central garden whose axial relationship with the fountain give order to the plaza. Otherseating rooms are linked by the east/west pathway to Madison Square Garden.In contrast to the building’s modern character, the pyramidalfog sculpture was conceived in a natural rockface finish of redstone, thus engaging the viewer in the creative tension that can bestaged between the natural and built landscapes.
