奥尔什丁是我们的家乡，项目展示的主题就是为我们的家乡赋予一个新的特色，同时将这个城市向周围的湖泊敞开。奥尔什丁是一个拥有180000人的小城市，坐落在欧洲非常中部的位置。在瓦尔米亚和马祖利亚区域中没有任何工业或发达的设施，它也是整个国家最贫穷的一个区域。然而，它却拥有着一个极好的优势：惊人的自然风光。这个区域被称为“千湖之地”，奥尔什丁也以其省会的角色而闻名。在这个小城市的版图中意想不到的坐落着16个湖泊。

到了1944年的时候，整个区域归属了德国，奥尔什丁就变成了一个主要的驻军地。城镇中的人口绝大部分都是军人，从而获得了Kasernopolis这个昵称，Kasernopolis的意思就是兵城。在“千湖之地”回归波兰之后，因着二战的原因，这个城市开始寻找一个新的特色。然而，湖泊在很长的一段时间中对城市的生活都没有很重大的影响。当“将城市向湖泊敞开”的理念出现后，应该从字面意义和象征意义两个方面解读这个理念的意义是显而易见的。

The topic of presentation is Olsztyn's - our hometown's - search for a new identity, as well as the attempt to open the city up to the surrounding lakes. (1) Olsztyn is a small city of about 180,000 people, located in the very middle of Europe. (2) in the region of Warmia and Masuria . Ther's almost no industry or developed infrastructure and it is one of the country's poorest regions. (2a) However, it has an great asset : incredible natural scenery(sinery) . Our region is called the "Land of a Thousand Lakes", and Olsztyn is known as its capital. (3a) The fact that as many as sixteen lakes are located within the borders of this small city is truly exceptional. ?

(3b) Until 1944, the whole region belonged to Germany and Olsztyn was a major garnison town . It was populated mostly by soldiers and had the nickname Kasernopolis - City of Barracks . After the Land of a Thousand Lakes returned to Poland , as a result of II World War , the city began searching for a new identity . The lakes, however, played no significant role in the city's life for a long time . ?When the idea to "opening the city to the lakes" appeard it was obvious that it should be understood both lierally and symbolically .
